According to Health Children Org, there are more than 2,500 button batteries are ingested each year in the United States. The incident happened as frequent as every three hours that there is a child in the ER somewhere in this country for a battery-related emergency issue. These small and shiny button batteries are appealing to children that can result in a major injury and even death if ingested.

What are Button Batteries.

Button batteries are the small round batteries found in small electronics such as remote controls, thermometers, games and toys, hearing aids, calculators, bathroom scales, electronic jewelry, cameras, and holiday ornaments. Many homes use these small electronics that can put your family, especially children in danger.

Recently, a concerned mother posted the same case on Facebook. On her post, she narrated how they discover the cause why there's something black coming out from her daughter's nose.

One night, she noticed that her daughter's eyes were swollen and sneezing. So she gave her daughter antihistamine because she thought it's just some sort of allergies. The next day, she was shocked that something is coming out from her daughter's nose.

She then smelled but it doesn't smell blood, instead, smell like a soil. When she asked her daughter what happened, she just tell her mom that she stumbled.

When she cleaned it, her daughter complained that it's painful so she stops. She then decided to take her to the hospital, straight to ER. The ENT said that they found out a foreign object inside her nose.

I decided to bring her to the hospital diretso ER at sabi sa ENT need daw makita kung may naipasok ngang foreign object sa loob ng nose niya. And we were suprised when they confirmed nga sa x-ray na may battery yung loob ng ilong niya."

She then remembered the headband her husband bought for their kids. Little did they know, it was destroyed and the button battery got stucked in her nose. Fortunately, she was safe and the doctor said that it will gotten worst, causing her nose to be punctured if not discovered sooner.

The concerned mom warned her fellow parents to be extra careful in giving their children toys with smaller parts or have a button batteries in it.
